Some of the top collections of Derby Day foods included things like big, messy Hot Brown sandwiches or even a Kentucky beef stew called burgoo. And while burgoo is apparently popular on race day, it’s less than ideal when you’re at a cocktail-style Kentucky Derby party.
She wants something she can eat with one hand while standing in a big hat and Derby dress. It doesn’t have to be overly fancy, but it shouldn’t be messy. It should have a Kentucky origin or a Southern flare. Of course, the addition of some bourbon — in your drink or your food — is always a plus.
